CROCHET PROJECTS | Easy No Sew, No Button Earsavers

Hello everyone! I am back with a new super fun and easy pattern for you, they are CROCHETED EARSAVERS!

Now what are earsavers you might ask. Well, they were created to hold the ear straps of surgical masks. Nowadays, our healthcare workers are working around the clock and they have to wear surgical masks all the time.

Here's what an earsaver looks like:

This is an adjustable version that can be tightened, and it's more secure than the two button version since it wraps around the mask and is secured by the button.

Since we are all under lockdown here in the Philippines, I couldn't get buttons. So, I made some on my own! These are crocheted bobbles, and they're actually pretty sturdy depending on the yarn and hook size you use.

PATTERN:

Materials

- size 4 worsted weight yarn (preferably 100% cotton) Here I am using 12ply hand-dyed cotton

- 4.00mm crochet hook for the body

- 3.75mm crochet hook for the button

- scissors

- tapestry needle

Main body

Chain 55

- dc into the 9th chain from the hook, (dc 2, sk2 stitches, dc into 3rd stitch) repeat until you have a total of 5 button holes.

- dc all the way until the end and bind off

Crochet Button

- leaving a long tail of about 4 to 5 inches, 12 sc into magic ring, pull to tighten enough that there is a gap in the middle, but that the last stitch and the first stitch are beside each other.

- sc 14 into the gap in the center of the ring (not into the stitches). By doing this you are crochet OVER the first round of sc.

- ss into the first sc of the round, bind off and hide the end into the back of the button so that it is opposite the end that is made from the magic ring.

I recently pledged to donate some earsavers to this cool community I learned about called Earsavers for Lifesavers PH. If you are in the Philippines, do consider helping out with this cause. You can find more information here:
